Alkira Consulting was established to help organisations achieve better outcomes from their project and programme management investments.

Founded in Munich and backed by broad international experience, we focus on addressing the common challenges that derail business-critical programmes, including:

"My programme is significantly delayed and at risk of failure. What are the root causes, and what needs to be done to turn it around?"
"How do I safeguard the major investments already made in the programme?"
"What are the most common reasons for project failure, and how can they be avoided?"
"Where can I find experienced programme managers to steer us to a successful outcome?"

Research from the Project Management Institute¹ shows that for every US$1 billion invested in projects, organisations risk losing an average of US$135 million. Notably, high-performing organisations face losses that are 14 times lower than those of low-performing ones.

To help our clients realise greater value and avoid significant losses, we focus on three core service areas:

Programme Recovery

When properly executed, programme recovery can be highly effective. One survey found that nearly 75% of projects receiving recovery intervention were ultimately brought back on track. Our own experience supports this—programme recovery, when approached with the right expertise, frequently leads to successful outcomes.

Programme Assurance

Studies show that over two-thirds of projects are either challenged or fail outright, with only a minority deemed successful. Large-scale initiatives are especially vulnerable. Independent Programme Assurance provides an objective perspective, improves transparency, and helps identify and mitigate the most common failure points - ultimately increasing the likelihood of success.

Programme Delivery

People make the difference. An experienced Programme or Project Manager not only instils confidence but also ensures rigorous implementation of the plan. Too often, organisations compromise by assigning whoever is available rather than securing the best-qualified individual. We help clients put the right leadership in place from the outset.
